Re: T350 issue??

I'd look at the fuel filter first.

Re: T350 issue??

I will check it, but a month ago, I changed out the sending unit, emptied the tank and flushed it out, put new filter in. Even blew out the fuel lines! It's running fine other than the intermittent surge. As I was driving it, I kicked into neutral and revved the engine and it doesn't stumble at all. But, hey, fuel filters are cheap, so I will try that!

Re: T350 issue??

What carb are you running? Rochester has the internal filter the may be the issue. If it was transmission, you'd be getting t he same symptoms every time as the truck heats up.

Re: T350 issue??

Have you tuned it to your engine? They come Crome the maker set up lean, for a 305, so if you're running bigger with higher compression, then a lean condition is quite possibly your problem. It's a real easy fix, with springs, jets, and metering rods. Also check your electric choke setting.

Re: T350 issue??

The carb was on the truck when I bought 13 years ago, so I haven't done anything to it! It's been parked for a long time, hence changing out everything fuel related with exception of carb and fuel pump. Since its intermittent, so far, I was thinking something had clogged up the transmission filter. When driving, and it starts that surging, I can floor it and the engine seems like it's trying to rev up, it just doesn't seem to transfer those rpm's to the rear end! I am going to replace the fuel filter and the transmission filter this weekend and see!
