verifying Dorman replacement upper control arm part number

Hi, I need some help and confirmation before I order replacement upper control arms and other components as well.

I have a 69 C10 short wheel base frame I am in the process of freshening up the suspension. I believe it already has 73 up disc brake set up on it. I want to order 73 up Upper and lower control arms. My intention is also to get 73 to 87 dropped spindles for HD rotors too.

I found the Dorman numbers 520-181 and 520-182 as the replacements. Are those correct for what I want to do?

In the picture it shows a bracket attached to the ball joint. The arms I have don't have that. They have a slot in the arm for a tab on the brake hose.

I went to the Dorman site, http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-1795...ion&origin=YMM , to verify the number. It shows it is not a fit. Why not?
Do I have the correct numbers? Is some thing wrong with the combo I intend to use?
Also is there a lower control arm assembly available? Part number, please?
Thanks.

It is listed a little od. Says 95 to 73. The fit for your looking for should be 73 to 87. A quick look at summit shows they fit. They are just the uppers.

Re: verifying Dorman replacement upper control arm part number

Thanks. From what I have researched on this site, those 73 -87 parts are the numbers I thought I needed to use to complete the front suspension and brake work to use on a 67 -72. I didn't know up to a 95.
I didn't realize that Summit sold the control arms. I am going to order from them. I am going to check with Summit too to see if they offer lower control arms too.
I think I am going to get the dropped spindles and brake kit C10DBKIT from McGaughys.
Once I get the suspension set up on this frame , I'm going to find a set up to do a LS motor set up.
Then swap the body over to the frame.

Re: verifying Dorman replacement upper control arm part number

I personally would use a higher quality brand. Yes dorman seems to have everything and the prices are good..... However the ball joints in a lot of those arms are garbage. I have seen them fail in as little as 3 days on customer cars. We have all but stopped using dorman control arms due to an excessive amount of ball joint failures in a short amount of time. I spin wrenches for a living and replace a lot of control arms on both new and older vehicles.
