Re-size Photos???

In the past I had used Google Picasa to host my images which gave you an option for the photo size to generate the image link. Google recently shut down Picasa now I have to use Google Photos. But, Google Photos doesn't give you an option for the photo size so all the photos I post are ridiculously large.

I could resize all the images but I want to keep the large size in my Google photos.

I found some BBcode references for resizing images but none seem to work.

https://www.bbcode.org/examples/?id=10

Anyone have any input? Here is the link to the image address (right click on picture):

Resize code below doesn't work:

Original size code works:

Re: Re-size Photos???

photobucket used to take care of resizing for you too, I had it set to resize on upload to 800x600 and that gave me lots of room in photobucket. a few months ago I realized they were uploading at full resolution and only displaying at 800x600. so now I resize them on my desktop, which is a mac so it may not help you but this is my process.

from photos, export the photos I want to my desktop. select all (select first one, then shift+click the last one, it selects all) and double click any. this opens them all in Preview. select all again the same way and select tools--->resize. choose "by pixels" and enter 1200 in the width, click enter. bam, all pictures resized, upload to photobucket and then delete the files on my desktop (since they already exist full size in my Photos library).

a quick search says you can do the same thing in windows image viewer (photo viewer?), so export pictures from your photo library to desktop, select all, choose "open with" and pick the windows image viewer, select resize and pick your size (I only pick width because it automatically scales the photo for you, unless you are good at math and percentages haha)

Re: Re-size Photos???

^^^^^
Thanks, but I was hoping to keep a large image size in my Google Photos just to have the resolution there if anyone ever wanted to zoom in or I needed it. If that didn't matte to me I could manual resize each images in Google Photos but I'm just too lazy to do that. And as you suggested, I could also resize them all at once on my PC but then I'd have to upload and grab new image links for each photo, and once again...too lazy to do that too.

I don't know, does the above photo post too large or is it ok?

Re: Re-size Photos???

then use photobucket, you can choose how your photos are displayed through img tags and the full size exists on the site.

Re: Re-size Photos???

I guess I don't get too excited about it and just pay the extra Photobucket fee for the added storage space.

I always appreciate your clear photos That have the resolution to be expanded to see details.

I usually shoot the "photo to answer a question" shots with my Nikon Coolpix that stays at 10 meg simply because I haven't figured out how to change it. Speaking of that little bugger I need to dig it out for the road trip.

Re: Re-size Photos???

one thing i have noticed about photobucket over the past yr is that it has become very slow
where i used to be able to go from pic to pic in a nanosecond now takes 30 seconds or more
i figure photobucket is throttling my bandwidth until i fork over some cash
even though i have 1500 pics up there, it's only %3 of the free storage offered

Re: Re-size Photos???

I use irfan view and just post my resized pictures directly to the site and keep the originals on my computer. Was pretty easy even for me to figure out how to use.
If the originals start to take up too much space I will put the on external drives.

One thing I learned about Photobucket, it's not the number of pics they charge for, it's bandwith. You can have 1,000,000 pics if nobody looks at them. One pic will put you over if thousands of people view it.

Re: Re-size Photos???

The reason I use Google photos is its ease of use and it's free of charge. I take pictures with my phone, they are then automatically backed-up to my Google account, I then organize them to my project folder, then right click for the image address. I've used Photobucket before and found Google photos works much better for me.

Re: Re-size Photos???

Simplest and best available. I've used it for years. Right click on any image, select S, M or L and it's done.
