quick rear end question

I came across a 6 lugger posi 4:11 rear end off a 67. I didnt know a posi came in a 4:11. i can grab it and a trailing arm for like a hundred bucks. I dont need it really but i would like posi and im running a 4l60 and a 5.3 ls so im not sure which rear end would be better. any thoughts guys

Do you know what kind of posi it is? If it's anything but a gov-loc I'd buy it. I would definitely stay away from the gov-loc for any price - they have a tendency to grenade.

What gear ratio do you have now? If it is 3.73,make sure the posi from the 4.11 will fit into the carrier you have now, or else be prepared to swap the gear ratio as well. With a 4.11 and the OD of the 4l60, you should still be fine on the highway, but fuel mileage will suffer somewhat, if you are going from 3.73. Just my thoughts.

And yes, that's a good price if the axle is in ok shape.

this is what i was thinking too. a 411 with overdrive should still do me fine.

how can i spot a gov. lok? i dont mind pulling the cover at all
