Add EGR Wiring to Aftermarket Harness

I have an aftermarket tbi harness that does not have the egr wiring. Does anyone know how I could add this wiring? Do I just take the red and white wires from the egr connector and connect them to the proper pins on the ecm?

Re: Add EGR Wiring to Aftermarket Harness

That is the EGR solenoid it is connected to the actual valve. The most times The EGR is programmed out of the E-PROM chip in the ECM is aftermarket and performance cases. Know all of this is from memory and that is going back a LONG way to come up with that info. But that isn't as impressive as this recalling the service number for the truck TBI ECM, watch this. 1227747 Boom.[I built a lot of trucks back then]
So saying that to say this I don't know if trying to put the egr solenoid into the system if the computer would even recognize what it is and what it is for

Like hugger said, if the egr has been deleted from the e prom I wouldn't worry about it. But if the ecm has never been messed with, just search the ecm number to find the proper PIN numbers and add them to your harness.

Thanks guys. Egr has not been removed from eprom. So just run the wires to the correct pins? No relays or anything like that? I don't know squat about wiring, so pardon my ignorance.

The red wire should go to a 12v ign on power source and the other wire is grounded through the ecm. Look at your ecm and post the number and I can find you the wiring diagram.

Re: Add EGR Wiring to Aftermarket Harness

No problem. My memory is not as good as huggers so I had to look it up! I'm going off a 1990 k5 that I have with the 1227747 ecm.
Red wire- +12 volt fused
Grey wire- to pin A4 on the ecm.
The hardest part will be finding the wire terminal ends to go into the ecm plug...
