does anyone know if you can put 67-72 step side fenders on a 73-87 step side bed?looking to get a buddies old step side bed off his 78 c-10 and want to put 67-72 fiberglass steps from unlimited products.does anyone know what kind if any mods would have to be done?the fiberglass steps are supposed to bolt right up.all help needed.thanks

you'll probably have to drill a few holes, but they'll go on and look right if you place them correctly.

i have a pic kinda, these fenders are on 60-66 bedsides, we drilled new holes and welded up the old ones, the reason why we went this route is because these sides were straight as an arrow and the 67 box sides were thrashed

If i remember right a few of the crossmembers will need to be moved and you have to fab where the step bolts on also on 73 and newer beds.

The front stake pockets are shorter on the 73 and up beds. (Shorter than the 67-72 beds).

OK This is what I have been/am going through on this. I'm using an 84 bed with my 70. beds are same dimension physically, however you do need some mods.

You'll need to redrill all mounting holes, and fill in the old fenders holes. You'll also have a few extra holes to fill because of the bed wiring.

You will also have to grind off the step lip of the new bed, and if you want to use the original steps, you have to weld in a piece approximately 2" wide across the front side to fill in the gap differences of the steps.

If you are not using the original rear cross sill, you will need to change it out with an original, or at least change the mount points (I did this). The rear mounts are about 1" to 1 1/2" short of meeting the rear frame rail.

I am not finished yet, but it's not too bad especially if your semi OK with a welder (I'm not, still learning).
