Speedo question
I pulled a dash out of a 58 chevy viking and it had this thing, I would asume that its a speedo stabilizer or something it has a vacuum line hook up on it and the speedo cable just runs though it? let me know what you think it is or what ever thanks

Re: Speedo question
I would say it's a gear reduction for a 2 speed rear axle. Normally the larger trucks had these which also operated by vacuum. When you switch the rear axle gears this device is used to switch the speedo gears so the speedo still reads correctly. My COE came with a 2 speed axle and also had one of those. Or it could be the ultra rare passenger eject at 100 MPH vacuum switch, they stopped production on those because you could never get it to operate.
