Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

Need more help guys !!
Because I´m new i the Chevy world and I´m doing 1,000,000 puzzle with my truck I will have a lot of questions.

I have understod that there is some differenses in the engine mounts/brackets (or what do want to call it). I will post two pictures of the parts I have and my woundering is what i need to get my engine mounts to fit.
The mount that are fittet to the fram is wider than the bracket that will go on the engine

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

Your control arms ( and possibly your cross member) are from a later truck ( 5 lug hubs and rubber bushes) it could be that the mounts are from the same later truck?? One solution would be to source a pair of original 64 banana brackets ( the ones between the cross member and frame) on this forum then I could give you the part number for the original mounts, I could even source them in the UK for you.

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

Welcome aboard . There are quiet a few C10's in the UK I even managed to buy a second hand door at a swop meet a few years ago . Last year I also purchased a cab over here in the UK . So bear that in mind there are a few good shows and swop meets , it may be worth a trip .

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

the mounts on your frame use metal cup motor mounts for a 79 chevy truck.
the loose rubber mount you have there is for a 72 or older car .
the ones you need look like this

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

What you need are the style of 'clamshells' in the link that 60chevyjim posted. Those are very common and I would be surprised if you can not find them in Sweden. They are used on all GM trucks from '73 and up thru about 2000. Also used in all Chevy cars from about '73 and up as well. It is possible that the center to center measurement of the engine mounts on the frame brackets is not correct. Just something to check before you try and set the engine in place. They appear to be correct, but it is worth checking.

If you look through my thread you will be amazed at what you can get in a case Front discs ,drop spindles , calipers , power steering box plus much more and that was on one trip . Extra case cost is still cheaper than shipping and import duty .

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

That is a Eaton HO52 or 72, 3/4 ton differential. They typically have quite low gears. Parts are becoming difficult to find and expensive when you do find them. And that's here in the US. I can only imagine how parts availability and prices would be in Sweden.

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden

Here's some pics and measurements... Hope this helps, I didn't think to measure the brackets location on the cross sill at first, but will get those and post soon...

The hole on the bracket is centered at 9 inches from either end and 31.75 inches center to center between the brackets.

If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to ask...

Can't beat a free donor vehicle especially if it runs good.

Your truck is coming along nicely.
