70 c10 5.3 fuel tank/pump advice.

Hi guys I am new to the forums i just picked up a 70 c10 step side short bed. I am going to be dropping in either a 5.3 or 6.0 and i was wondering what fuel tank and pump setup I should use. Ii am trying to do this swap on a budget also I want to run a rear mounted tank. I have been looking on the forums and I know there are a lot of threads on this subject but so many people run different setups. I was looking at some of the after market efi tanks but they are pretty expensive. i was thinking about runing this tank setup ( http://www.fueltankparts.com/67-72-e...-bed-fill.html )but its almost 900 hundred bucks and thats not really in my budget.

I looked at several myself and ended up going with a Boyd Welding tank. They are pricey but they are well thought out and made.

I dig the Boyd tank, they look great. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money for one in my budget either.

I ended up using a Blazer tank. HERE
I also used a Walbro inline fuel pump. I've been really happy with the setup so far.

I can't say this is the best setup, it is budget friendly and very reliable.

What he said, I used a boyd tank on my swap and love it. It is clean and works great.

If you can find an old Blazer or Jimmy those tanks will work as they were made to fit the same frame. LMC has rear mount tanks for like $150, sending unit for $50. I was gonna try it but ended up just replacing the behind the seat tank.

Get a Blazer tank[or Jimmy] 87-91 and a Delco EP 381. It will drop in place of the TBI pump and provide the pressure that the 5.3 needs. That will be the dollar down way to go. And what is better than using GM stuff on our trucks?

Did you have to mod the filler neck on the tank at all?

i picked up a new 1990 wrangler tank for 85.00 and a new 1987 blazer 25 gallon sender that fits right in. works great

I used a boyd tank for my LS swap. I couldn't be happier with the choice. I realize it's expensive, but it is well worth the $$$.

You have to come up with some type of filler. Some people just put it right in the floor of the truck witch would be a last resort for me some make a filler to go behind the tail light like 57 Chevy style. Also some do a filler behind the marker lamp while others graft in a filler door in the bedside. There are lots of options there to work out.
Other options for a tank is a Camaro tank or Chevelle tank that filler takes a fold down plate and puts the filler behind the bumper. I think that may be the cleanest I have seen

I used a 65 gto tank with the filler behind flip down tag. Works OK.
I item I have noticed though - with 'middle fillers' almost gone - you have to get close to the pump in most stations for the hose to reach.
