GMC 305 V6 complete w/3 speed, PO installed Power steering

For Sale: 1967 GMC V6 305 Just pulled today.

Engine turns over by hand had good coolant in it too. Sitting for seveal year so I dont know the actual condition and I never tried to crank it in the truck.

Has Owner installed/fabraicated power steering.

Three speed transmission shifted into all gears easialy.

Air cleaner also included. Engine stands included but front motor mounts are broken.

For Sale where it sits outside of College station TX. I will not ship and buyer must meet me there or pay for shipping for me to move it to the Austin TX area only. They can pick it up there.

Photos below, please ask questions in the thread.

$200.00 OBO Please note that engine, if not sold, will end up in a pile of parts going to the junkyard. Id really like a V6 guy to get this so please make an offer.

Thanks,
Thomas

Price Drop... I know, I know.. It has not even been 24 hours and I'm dropping the price...

175.00 OBO... It really is going to the scrap yard.

I just got the deposit on teh four door truck so between now and thanksgiving I'm tossing whats left of the suburban and the white GMC This thing came from on the trailer along with a few F word engines and this one is going with it.

Weight is weight to the scrapper. Surely someone in texas is a V6 guy and wants this GMC motor.

you could sell parts off of the engine and then take the rest to scrap and you would get more money out of it IMO the 66 section should be a better response .

I'll see what happens Ive got a few dissasemblies to take care of at the farm before junking the LWB frame and bed so who knows...

Question though: I saw that your 351 V6 shows a turbo 400 transmission attached to it.

Will autos directly bolt to this engine? If so that should mean the transmission would bolt to a V8 or I6 is that a correct statement? If so I can use the transmission myself.

Another question: if I am just using it as a drive around putt putt type of truck is the V6 worth keeping? My plan is to use the clip and cab on a SWB frame with a step or fleet bed and install a I6 three speed manuel or turbo 350 that I ahve stashed away in the barn. Didnt intend to do anything with it other than have something to drive around make a trip or two to the home depot.

I shyed away because ive heard they have no top end on them and unless I wanted to drive 55 MPH everywhere as pushing it could cause it to blow up.

Sounds like it would be good for what you want to do. There are performance upgrades for them such as HEI and holley 500 that really help but generally, yes they are not high revving but for a errand/short trip truck it would be great. You'll like the torque assuming the engine is in good shape. I'm going to run one in my 4x4 and will be installing a numerically low rear such as a 3.07 or possibly a gearvendors to make a nice 70mph truck with the torque, uniqueness and longevity of the big block v6. Also will run HEI or pertronix and a Holley 500.

The 400 should bolt up but you will need an adapter to run on the V6. I'm not sure on using your trans on a V8 but the guys in the 60 to 66 section would know or I can ask for you on the 6066 Gmc guy discussion forum.

Re: GMC 305 V6 complete w/3 speed, PO installed Power steering

Hello Round Rock-

There is a triangle-shaped adapter between my 305 V6 and the TH400... all stock original. Recently rebuilt the trans and found that all 3 corners of the plate were broken. But all the pieces were found, welded, and it's running fine seven months later.

as a weekend truck for errands, it's no less useful than anything else. Being in a hurry will involve different gearing and taller tires... The conversations with onlookers are worth the effort.

Not sure if I'm going to use the V6 right now, but I'm going to end up keeping it. I've got the room for storage and it will simply go in the barn. Right now i'm in the process of getting rid of the LWB frame and other parts and will get back into building something in the Spring.
