Disk Brake Dana 44 Swap Brake Line Question

Hello,
So I grabbed a Dana 44 with disk brakes from a '73 k20 to swap into my '69 K20 (Still had the stock closed knuckle drum brake Dana 44) and am having a hard time trying to figure out what brake lines to use. I am pretty sure the fitting from the hard line is 7/16-20 and all lines for '71 and up with disk brakes seem to be 3/8-24, all with the correct banjo fitting for the caliper. Does anyone know what brake line I could get that has the proper fitting to the hard line? Thanks.

Re: Disk Brake Dana 44 Swap Brake Line Question

I did the same swap for a guy, used the 72 hard lines and 74 C10 rubber lines, BH36759 and BH36760 for his lifted 4X4. Worked fine with new calipers. I welded in the brake line holder in the frame where the disk line goes through.

Re: Disk Brake Dana 44 Swap Brake Line Question

We're you able to buy a new set of prebent hard lines or did you get them off of a donor truck?

Re: Disk Brake Dana 44 Swap Brake Line Question

I got them from LMC, I also changed the master cylinder and combo valve to a disk/drum set up. If you order them from LMC, just make sure to check the two lines from the master to combo valve to ensure they sent the correct ones.

Thanks 71meangreenc10. I just ordered my new lines. Hopefully the rest of the swap goes smoothly.

No problem,

Just make sure if you use the 71,72 lines on a 69 you will have to relocate the mounting for the rubber lines. Look at the picture I posted. The back whole on the frame is where the disk brake caliper line ran through, the front whole with the adapter on it is for drum brakes.

The metal lines are also different at the prop valve between a disk and drum application. I can post pics if you need them. Got a 4x4 in the ER right now with the front clip off.

If you have time and think about it I would love any additional information that would help make the conversion easier. Thanks!
