1950 Lower Grille Splash Pan Bolt Holes

When I bought my 1950 Project it was all in boxes so now I am trying to figure out a few things.

I put the grill on top of the Lower Grille Splash Pan and figured out what holes it files but I can not figure out what all of the perimeter bolt holes are used for which I have circled in red. Does anyone have pictures or info on this?

The two larger ones at the bottom end of the stamped channels are for the radiator support rods.

I'm not sure if they may have had some extra holes along the bottom or what not. I can't get to mine to look under it right now to tell. if you put a bolt in every place the grill has a nut insert to screw a bolt into I'd say you are good.

The smaller ones in red have bolts the hold the lower grill in place

OK, I see now In the shop I had an old grille frame with no chrome on it and when I just pulled the new one out of the box I see the extra tabs on the bottom chrome slat.

I am trying to decide if I should paint the lower splash pan in truck color or black. It does not looks like much if any shows from in front of the grille and I want the stuff behind the grille to be black so I am leaning towards it being black.

Thanks for making me think harder on this one

if it were me I would paint it a semi gloss black, like I would paint the frame and rest of underneath stuff. its your truck though, do whatever you like. if somebody comments tell then the same thing, it's your truck.

Re: 1950 Lower Grille Splash Pan Bolt Holes

All you can see of the splash pan is the front lip so does not matter too much. Thing is that all of this stuff is a challenge to get bolted up in the right place, so the less "color" you have, the easier to touch up those places that inevitably get a scratch or two
