Question about stock Bench seats.

Hi guys,

I have a 1966 stepside that when I purchased the truck has some later model bucket seats. My question is I found the stock bench but I am concern on rather the stock bench seat will increase or decrease my leg room. I have no experience with the stock bench. Thank you for any info.

Probably decrease. That's usually the reason guys swap em out, trying to get more leg/belly room.
I had my interior guy slim down the padding on mine 68 I built last year as well as moved my column forward. It was a lot better.

Re: Question about stock Bench seats.

agreed ^^

Although I have seen a few buckets installed that actually reduced the legroom compared to the bench, those are usually the exception to the rule rather than the norm. Some things like..Is the fuel tank still behind the seat? Could be a factor as well.

Re: Question about stock Bench seats.

I think it depends. I have the factory bench in my '65 and have tried a bench seat out of a '90 Chevy truck in it. What I found with mine was that the recliner lever on the '90 model bench seat hit the fuel tank and wouldn't let the seat go back as far as the factory seat sits. I'm 6'3" and 230, so I was hoping for more leg room, also, but I ended up putting the factory bench back in it.
