Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
Am I missing something here? From the pics you posted, I wouldn't call this a rust bucket. Looks like you picked up a good truck for the price, even if the engine inst original

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
You did good. Those Cali guys don't even get rain so they are in a different world old truck wise. . I'd rather have a 350 than a 327 anyway. More torque to move these bricks.

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
I was gonna say if the expantion plug or vent is near the dizzy base then more likely you got a oe motor but i guess ya figured it out.
Looks like a good deal on yer end.......some fell'a have fear of rust. Bring it on!

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
The original engine for this truck would have been a 283. Show us more pics when you get a chance, sounds like a good score.

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
I know. I payed 3K for mine in July but thought it was worth 2500. I just had to have it, same old story.
I like those wheels a lot. Looks like a good start esp. For the northeast

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
Looks like a good start to me. What type of build are you planning ? Frame off ? Or just a nice driver ?

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
I'm just gonna drive it for now. Start getting parts I need ......when the 69 is done I'll strip it and do a frame up....disc conversation, static drop....I've owned and currently own air ride HD Baggers with big wheels...don't want to mess with bags on a truck, static drop is just fine! !!
Maybe a Curly Maple wood bed... (I've got a guy!) Keeping the Mint Green paint and green/black mix interior, white bumpers, white accent in the trim and black 20's is my vision. ..I've already swindled a M22 transmission off my buddy!!!! Long, Low and fast as Fu**!

He also picked up my buddy buckets in TN this afternoon. ...so far so good with the uship driver.. I'll post more pics when I can. We're gonna make it road worth and drive it for a while until it goes under the knife! !

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
Congrats on your new truck! I don't think you did too bad at all. You are correct, unrusty trucks in this area of the country are extremely rare. Yours doesn't seem to be infested with rust so that is good. It also doesn't appear to be all butchered up. I also prefer a 4 speed over an automatic truck. I looked for a long time waiting for a 4 speed truck to pop up for sale near me. My 70 Longhorn has a 4 speed with big back window. I wish they still had a small back window in 1970. Why do so many guys prefer a big back window? Must be for visibility reasons, can't be because it looks better...

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
Won't be here till tomorrow am, driver got a late start.......He call me a little while ago and told me 10am tomorrow. Good communication from him, even if he's a day late.......Overall he's been very good to deal with.
I won't be able to sleep !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Looking at a 67 truck.....
Thanks, when it gets restored it's gonna be that color....the truck needs the usual out this way...cab supports, rockers, hole in the floor........... brakes look good and it runs well....The upper ball joints are orginal, still rivited lol. ..I have one of the tech school kids that works part time fixing it up so I can drive it.....it's only 31yrs older than him and he's in awe....
