Same shocks for coils and bags
I have a rear shock that needs to be replaced because it is leaking. In the future I want to install air bags. If or when I get bags the plan is to keep the ride height around the same. My question then is will one shock do the trick or do I need to get new shocks when I get bags? Also what is a good shock? I am looking for a comfortable ride more than high performance. But both would be grate.

Re: Same shocks for coils and bags
Most of my reason for bagging it is to get a smoother ride. So it will mostly be staying around the same height. I might add a small c notch in the future but nothing much more than that. I already have 4 inch drop coils in the rear and a one inch block. The shocks have been relocated.

Re: Same shocks for coils and bags
It's all about travel. If you keep the compressed and extended lengths the same with bags as you do with your current setup, then you don't need to change anything. If you are going to notch the frame, which you don't currently have, you will change your compressed length as the axle will go lower. You will need to make sure your shocks can handle the extra compression. If you change nothing but swapping the springs out for bags, you won't have to do anything.

Re: Same shocks for coils and bags
Thanks. Are there any shock recommendations. The white kyb shocks are what someone else recommended.

Re: Same shocks for coils and bags
I am running Bilstein shocks, which is all I try to use regardless of vehicle.

Re: Same shocks for coils and bags
Check out the Ridetech Billet Shocks. The HQ - Single Adjustable is by far the most popular we sell. These are used on Bagged and static coil trucks and WILL give you the smooth ride and handling you are after.
They are made by Fox racing to Ridetech's own specs and valving. Let me know if I can be of help on them, we are Ridetech's largest Distributor in the US. MCB PARTS
