brake adjustment
how do i adjust my rear drum brakes?

Easy, but long way is to brake while backing up. There should be a hole in the drum that will let you reach the adjuster with a screwdriver. Adjust them until the drum starts to scrub, then back of a little bit.

If yours isn't done already, punch out the adjusting hole. Turn the drum until the hole is at the bottom, and turn the adjusting wheel down with a flat screwdriver. You will hear a ticking as the teeth on the wheel turn. This is because of the tab that prevents the adjusting wheel from turning backwards. I usually adjust my drums until I feel a light drag when I spin it. If yours are too tight, you stick another screwdriver through the hole to pull up the tab that prevents the adjusting wheel from turning backwards, and turn the adjusting wheel up.

Hard way, but I adjust the wheel with the drum off, sliding the drum on and turning the adjustment wheel until I feel the drum drag when putting it on. Make sure that the adjusting lever will aonly allow the wheel to turn one way. If you can turn it either direction with the lever on it the lever is too high or low on the wheel to self-adjust.

If you hadnt all ready, you might want to pull the drums and inspect the shoes before you run them out make sure their not metal to metal
