Manual 205 t-case to 700r4?

So my brother is in the process of building his 72 1/2 ton 4x4 that came factory with a manual. He wants to put a 700r4 in it if possible. All of the 700r4 to 205 swaps ive seen involve using a t-case that had a turbo 350 already bolted to it. Will the 205 off his manual work? Thanks, Chris

Someone with more knowledge may chime in, but I don't think make a make an adapter to go straight from a 700 to a manual (10 spline) 205.

you will need to change the output shaft on the 700 & the input shaft on the 205. in addition, you will need the adapter housing from a donor TH350/205 combo. Advance Adapters has kit for swapping out the TH350 with a 700. They also have the other hard parts & a lot of tech info. Check Offroad Design also.

Thanks for the info. Would it be better to just find a 700r4 with a t-case on it all done and sell the sm46 and 205 to fund it?

I really like the 205, if it were me I'd probably stick with it.

Advance Adapters makes what you need. It requires going into the transmission, so you end up with a fresh transmission. You can move the mount towers forward to the 6-cyl position and the longer trans fit right between. That way no driveshaft work required. There's plenty of room up front and it gets the distributor out of the firewall.
