Question about timing chain/tensioner on 2.2L engine

I have a 2002 S10,2.2L engine. I saw a Cloyes timing chain set that claims it's designed to eliminate the tensioner.
Has anyone used one ,and is it good,or bad?

From what I had read, OEM is the only way to go, and is what my truck got when I replaced it. Just have to use the new chain oiler plug with the larger hole in it.

I bought it from someone, who had bought it from the dealer and never used it.

Ok, thanks.
I'm just curious about the quality of the ones from AutoZone.
Don't want any screw ups ,since I'm in it already ,for almost $800 .
New head,water pump,radiator,t-stat, gaskets etc.
As for the oiler orifice,...didn't GM update that,in later ones ?

Did you happen to do engine bearings as well? That's what happened to me, new head & head gasket, timing chain, etc. at 150K. Ended up spinning a rod bearing 5K later. I knew I had developed oil pressure issues shortly after the head swap, and decided to run it til she blew. Now doing a rebuilt short block bottom end with the new(ish) head swapped over.

I was told it was an after the fact change, not sure if they were updated or not. I have an '03.

From what I had read on another forum, the non-OE ones wear out a lot quicker. I would rather spend the money up front and not have to buy more parts (or my labor time) on the back end.

New OEM at the dealers are $265,for all the pieces(chain,gears,tensioner are sold separately).
This engine was overheated due to extended use of E-85. Wore holes next to th valves,into the water passage.
Had he block checked,and bearings are all fine,since no coolant in the oil pan.
Radiator tank blew out from t-stat locking closed.
So, I'm changing everything,to be safe.

How is it possible for E85 to do that? E85 burns cooler. It certainly can't eat metal inside a passage like that. If so, I'd sure like to know how.

Ethanol doesn't make as much hp,as gasoline,therefore the engine works harder to do the same work.
The owner's manual of this truck states that if E-85 is used,the loadshould be reduced to 500lbs,the speed is reduced,and the truck should NOT pull a trailer,as overheating/engine damage can occur.
The damage was caused by hauling ,at highway speeds,and when the head over heated the coolant damaged the chamber side of the head.

Interesting. Optimizing the engine for E85 would make it difficult to burn regular gasoline. The mods are similar to propane or CNG.
