Ring & Pinion source

I am looking to change my gear set on my 63. It came with 3.73's and the PO went with 3.08's. great on the highway but the truck is a dog on the street. Talking with a few folks they said to make sure I got american made gears etc.

I know how hard it is to find anything made here.

does anyone have a line a place where I can find a reasonably price set?

Not sure exactly what you're going for, but there are also plenty of good used 3.73's available.

I'd guess it will be cheaper and easier to just buy another rear end with 3.73's already in it and just swap it in. Basically every truck they made came with 3.73's, so they're everywhere. Maybe $75-100 off craigslist for a good one?

Plus, if you do that, someone will no doubt gladly buy your good 3.08 rear end.

Point taken. That is also a job I could do myself for less dough. My mechanic also mentioned original GM gears to me when we were talking about the swap.
