Help with a clutch R&R. '95 Chevy 4x4 shorty.

My delema is do I separate the transfer case from the tranny or pull
the tranny mount crossmember and try to drop them both? Haynes book tells me to pull the left torsion shaft to get the case out. Seem if I pull them both after removing the cross member might be the way to go. They are both aluminum cases.

I prefer pulling the transfer case separately. Gives alittle more control over the trans in my opinion. I don't know why you'd need to remove the torsion bar though.

But I do remove the tranny crossmember, right?

Correct you do pull the crossmember, either way you have too. I just find it easier to take the transfer case off.

Well got the whole schmuts out to face this. The cage with the detent rollers has snapped. All pieces have been recovered. Tranny shifted great until the t/o bearing died. Shops in my area won't touch it. Said parts wear hard to get and few places had the tooling for setting the forks expencive so most shops don't touch this tranny. Currently looking for used one. Any suggestions are appreciated.
