Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

You can do what Swamp Rat says using paint as well.

Another reason I don't own a cell phone. But in all seriousness, I have one lying around the house for just in case, which gives me far more minutes I need, for $70 a year. Never even texted. Go figure I write computer applications.

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

If you are using an IPhone ( don't know about Galaxy but should work the same )when taking pic turn the phone sideways with the button on the right side. If you do that when you down the pics to your computer and post em on here they will be straight. I never post post form my phone but I'm thinking it should work the same .

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

I have had very inconsistent results posting pictures. For internet use, I use a Canon compact digital camera, save the photos to the desktop, then post them using the "go advanced" option on the forum reply page. Most times, they come out right side up, but sometimes, they end up rotated, and I cannot see any tools in the reply screen to fix that, so any help for the OP would be good for the rest of us who sometimes have the problem of rotated photos.

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

The inconsistent results have more to do with the forum software and settings than the phone you use. Sometimes you can get it to work by taking the picture using the Square format but some forums will get confused and randomly change orientation.

I typically place the picture on my computer desktop, upload, then preview before submitting the post. If the image is sideways I will try to edit the photo to be landscape (wider than taller).

thanksKen
i know its the forum soft ware they should fix this... instead of making me jump thru fire hoops to get my pics straight, i used to be able to put them on the desktop and that would work, we all support this forum with our memberships and purchasing from its vendors why dosnt the forum pay attention to this issue for us ?

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

Zicc1835, it's not the fault of the 67-72 forum. There's nothing they could do to fix the problem. It would be like blaming DELL for the latest Microsoft Windows update. It has to do with the vbulletin software that this forum (and most others around the web) is/are based on. Any forum that uses vbulletin software suffers from this issue and the people at vbulletin blame Apple saying that Apples's IOS doesn't properly tag photo's orientation. If you notice, all the people with this problem are posting pics that originate from their iPhones or iPads.

As with anything in technology there's always a workaround. It may be a pain but until all software and hardware is made by the same company (in other words, never) we will have to use these workarounds. Well, unless one of us writes some code for the vbulletin software that plays nice with Apple's way of tagging photos.

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

I feel the same way. Back when I switched to the iPhone I was annoyed by the forum/photo issue too so I did some digging. When I ran across the information about vbulletin blaming Apple, and saying "it's their fault not ours," I knew that a remedy would not be forthcoming. So, if I find my iPhone handy for everything including photos and belong to vbulletin forums, it's up to me to get things straight, so to speak.

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

It has nothing to do with apple neither, I have a galaxy and it does the same thing, doesn't make a difference on which way you hold the phone neither. So, what I do is I have a photo editing app that I put the pictures through and save them to and they work fine every time. I use snapseed it is simple and easy.

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

Since I started to turn my IPhone sideways about 1 1/2 years ago I've never had a problem with the pics posting sideways. I take a pic, email (I don't use the Cloud) it to my IMac , save it in my Photos and when I post on here they come out the right way.

I don't care if it's to do with a peach and an LTD. It has nothing to do with 67-72s*. I don't know what you all are talking about. I don't have a smart phone. But if you have any questions about 67-72 GM Trucks I'll see what I can do. LOL!

Re: NJ WTF trouble getting pictures straight

Actually it MIGHT have something to do with the forum itself since they are still using an old version of vBulletin (3.8.7 from 2011). There are other forums on newer versions that do not have this issue, and also others that have patched these older version, though vBulletin has already moved on to VB versions 4.x and 5.x and stopped supporting version 3.x. I've had experience with this myself since I am the admin of a motorcycle forum that use to use VB until we dumped it. Again it's not an iPhone or phone problem, it is a forum and software issue.

Sort of like our old trucks, some things in life you just need to improvise to make them work.

Zicc185, maybe if you stand up the boxes in that picture so the arrows point up the picture will load correctly
