Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

I'm contemplating making my newly acquired r20 crewcab into a dually shortbed. I'd like to lower it on 20s but would rather not use semi adapters. Does anyone have any experience or pictures showing what I'm looking for? Also wonder what size tires would be appropriate. Will I have to modify much or will all 6 wheels tuck? Below is a picture of the stance I'd be looking for. Thanks in advance

For the rims http://americanforcewheels.com/en/wh...heelgallery=10 has a few 20s and http://www.fueloffroad.com/fuel-dually-b-1768.htm has some also.

Re: Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

I think the truck in the picture is on 19"s. I far as I know the backspace on current 20"s offered is wrong and would require a cab & chassis rear or widening of fenders.

Direct bolt 19"

I'm like Cochino those are probably 19.5 Alcoas, which as far as I know can be had in bolt on form. Jay

The wheels on that truck are eagle alloys. Cannot find the exact size. Also running Hankook Optimo tires. I've searched all the pictures I can find but cannot zoom in to the tire size.

Re: Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

I found some info on this site! Still not enough to know if a stock rear end will work though.

Here are some cleaned up shots, I compounded the entire truck and then threw some wax on it. Turned out great.

He hasn't been on the forum in over 2 years and it looks like he doesn't know all the details anyhow since the previous owner did the mods.

I also feel guilty asking a vendor for information and then turning around and ordering from their competition. I can get Eagle wheels at jobber pricing but not sure if I trust their knowledge to give me accurate information.

Re: Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

Lets say hypothetically I wanted to run semi adapters and 22s...
Isn't that the opposite direction I want to go also in order to tuck?

Re: Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

You'll need to run townasty 22"s or widen fenders, cab chassis...

Re: Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

So can I just run a c&c rearend with the 8 lug 20s? I haven't bought the dually rearend yet. The guy offered me the rearend, fiberglass fenders a shortbed (needs quite a bit of work) and all 6 steel dually wheels for 300. That's what got me thinking this was the route I'd like to go.

Thats what I've heard but cant confirm. You might also try looking around duallyscene.com forum is pretty dead but I think that info should be around somewhere.

Re: Lowered dually on 8 lug 20s

Im bagging my crew cab dually now, but I will be running 6 22in semis so I don't know much on the 20's.
The 22's will not tuck with a stock dually rearend you will either have to run the wider fenders or get a narrower rearend like the c&c rear or a 3/4 ton suburban rear. With the c&c rear and 22's you would have to go with a 4 link. The rear end is so short the inner wheels will hit the leaf spring and would require new inner fender wells.
I am running a parallel 4 link with the 3/4 ton suburban rear
