Clutch pedal problem?
I'm not sure if this is a common thing with these trucks or if i'm just super weak, but my clutch pedal is super hard to press, plus I have to get it all the way to the floor for it to engage.
Anybody know how to fix this, or at least make it easier? |

Re: Clutch pedal problem?
Has it been this way since you bought the truck? Or is it something that happened over time? Could be a number of things. Linkage could be binding. Or lack of lubrication in the pivot points. Bent linkage rods. Check the Z-bar see if that moves freely. You may want to unhook your linkage going to the fork on the bill housing. To check this. Or you have a super strong spring. Also adjustment maybe necessary. Full travel on the pedel you're extending the springs all the way. Hope this helps. Someone else may have some ideas also. Good luck.

Mine is hard to press. I just assume it's because it's not hydraulic so you gotta build up the muscles. You'll get used to it.

Re: Clutch pedal problem?
Shouldn't be hard to press the clutch pedal. Mine is very smooth and easy to press. However, I learned that any misalignment of the bellcrank/z-bar can cause it to be hard. Misalignment can be cause by a number of thing:
1) Wrong belcrank/z-bar - there are several variations with different lengths out there for two and 4 wheel drive applications, and I6 and V8 applications, which may or may not have the lever arms in the same location. Someone may have swapped in the wrong one. 2) Bushings worn out in bellcrank/z-bar. 3) Bad engine mounts. If the engine is not properly located, the one end of the bellcrank/z-bar that attaches to it will be out of location too, causing misalignment. Just some things to consider. |
