Fuel Tank Mounting Problems

Hello everyone!
I'm installing a fuel tank in my 87, but I don't know how to get the fuel hoses attached to the sending unit on the gas tank. They seem too short, and the space is too small to get my hand in there. Any ideas without replacing the box?

Re: Fuel Tank Mounting Problems

I just done mine, and the way I did it was, since the lines on the truck point to the tank, and the sending unit point at the lines, I just used some extra hose and made a loop under the cab. Make a loop with both ends of the hose pointing in either direction then connect them, as you lift the tank it will for the loop, worked like a champ for me. Another suggestion before your under the truck, make sure the tank brackets are set on the tank the exact distance apart that they were when you drop the tank. If not it's a pain in the a$$ to get them right, just 1/4 inch off may as well be a foot off.

Re: Fuel Tank Mounting Problems

I bought longer hoses as well. Get fuel injection hoses. It's much more expensive. A little axle grease helps it slide onto the metal lines.

Yes it is tough but I did mine and as long as you leave enough room to get your arm up there they will go on. Floor jack helps
