Getting the truck ready for the baby!

Hi all
We are expecting our first little one early next year and was planning a few upgrades so I'll feel safe with him in the truck. It's a 1970 c10
On the list;
Rebuild the brakes all the way around
Replace buckets with a bench seat
Install seat belts and car seat anchors

Can y'all think of anything else?

When I install the bench seat, will all the holes be there? I'm guessing the cab floors were the same no matter what seat was installed from the factory.

Lucky man. My wife will not allow me to carry the kids in my truck. She refers to it as the death-trap and thinks I'm in mortal danger every time I take it out. LOL.

My daughters ( 3 and 4.5 yrs ) think it is awesome and can't wait to drive it!

Maybe if I put in shoulder belts and car seat anchors things would change so I'm going to be watching your effort in that regard.

These trucks are safer than people think. I survived a major impact with minor bruises that bent the frame in my 1972 and all I was wearing was the lap belt.

Hell... when I was a kid in the 70's my whole family rode in the cab of my Dad's 1970 C10. Dad driving, me and my brother in the middle and then Mom. The truck has a T-10 4speed in it and the gear shift was between my legs when I sat next to Dad. When my sister was born she rode on Mom's lap! 5 people in the cab of a 1970 truck! That would be considered child abuse today. Then again... if it wasn't raining or too cold... my brother and I rode in the back.

I had a 1967 C10 with buckets in it back in the 90's. The lap belts didn't really hold the car seats in very well for my daughters when they would ride in the truck. That was back when car seats didn't have to face rearward and are no where near as safe as they are today. But I believe a good anchor point for car seats would be a pretty cool deal to install in your truck.
