Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
I think you got the add a leaves backwards. That clamp is supposed to go on the rear, it keeps the leaves from fanning out....

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
Should I remove those brackets and put some spring clamps on each end to pull the springs together?

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
It looks better but the bottom leaf hits the rivet head on the add a leaf spring and still a pretty good gap think I'm just gonna remove the rivet and just put some spring clamps on both ends.

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
Dumb question but nobody has mentioned this so I will. Shouldn't the AAL be installed under both existing springs instead of between them?

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
No argument here, in fact that's exactly what I did many years ago with my K20.... 2 1/2" Softrides.

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
#54 of my hulk jr build I put rancho add a leafs front and back. They fit perfect for the 68 k10. It only has 2 leafs in the from and 2 in the rear. On the front I removed the lower leaf and replaced it with the add a leaf. In the rear I just added the heavy duty add a leaf.

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
That installation does not look correct. I think you got the wrong leaf. It's too long. Plus look at that gap between the leafs.
There's two ways to get the arch from the add a leaf method. From the bottom a smaller more curved add a leaf cups the upper leafs and when the center is clamped down it forces the center of the upper springs down into the cup. You get stiffer with some lift. Second method is add a spring to the top of the string pack, bolt it in the center and then force the bottom spring ends up to the added leaf ends to force the arch by pulling the ends up. Besides the gaps, it looks like you did not achieve any arch. You might have better luck with the HDs that bolt to the bottom. Over the years I've had a few over the top overload, but just for overload and not for lift. But same principle applies. I think you got the wrong springs. They sometimes get products messed up for older applications. I got the wrong U bolts with my lift... pissed me off having the truck apart and not being able to finish because of their blundering.

Re: 1969 k1o Skyjacker lift HELP
Ya, if you get the ends clapped good and lose that gap you will probably be fine and get your lift. Just get both sides clamped the same.
