Vacuum gauge readings on my 1994 Silverado.

Wanted you're guys opinion on something. What is your opinion of a 350.5.7 engine that has 321,147 miles on it and it still pulls a reading of 18 to 19 on my Vacuum gauge. Got it at 30,000 miles and have changed the oil on time every time. And took really good care of it. Thanks.

I think that's fantastic. I have 316k on my 350, not sure of the vacuum but motor still runs great, and pulls 6000+ lbs no problem.

I bought mine with 63k on it and have personally done every oil change as well.

I've never once tested the vaccum on my 98 as its fuel injected and serves no purpose. Carb'd engines while setting idle mixture sure but I never payed attention to the actual values just set them as high as it could. So all I can say is it sounds like you'll still operate vaccum brakes lol.

It's a throttle body engine so the vacuum gauge proved to be pretty useful. Just checking the health of the engine. 98 models have a great motor.

all the vortec motors from the 80s 90s are great engines,
was chevy's best selling engine small block vortecs.

now i dont know about today's chevys motors, personally i think chevy went down hill after 2000 , got more plastic and out went the chrome metal bumpers.

imo they just dont have that class appeal anymore, like the 70s 80s 90s

Re: Vacuum gauge readings on my 1994 Silverado.

Vortec was only 96-98. 87-95 were TBI, not vortec. But yes they are all great motors as they are all the same just different fuel injection systems and oh so slightly different heads.
