Re: new 47 project
Check the s10 build thread first. If going with original frame with ifs try to get aone piece crossmember that has upper and lower co trol arm mounts already integral, less guessing on geometry.

Re: new 47 project
takea look at scott's hotrods website. they have a pretty good front end that is a one piece crossmember scenario. if you are a good fabricator then the s10 swap may be ok, if not then a stock frame is maybe better.

Re: new 47 project
the problem with a mustangII is that the crossmember will usually only have the lower control arm pivots pivots welded on. the upper pivots you measure off and weld on yourself. there is lots of room for self induced problems if you don't get it right. better off to get a crossmember like scott's that has upper and lower control arm pivots already in place. all you gotta worry about is getting the crossmember in straight and square and at the rake angle you want. I have a mII system from a reputable supplier and it was a bear. the crossmember was the wrong one and I got no support . I figured it out for myself after many hours of research and trial and error.
s10 could be an option if you have the correct tools, can fab stuff and have a good work area to play in. read the s10m swap section above for some idea of what is involved. |

Re: new 47 project
In the brief time I've been on this forum, there must have been half a dozen threads on Mustang II vs S10. It's been discussed ad nauseum! Use the search box in the upper right and you'll find more information than you would ever want.
