Internet mechanics help
Question for you guys: in the pictures attached is a piece on the throttle linkage on my truck. One green wire is attached to the blade connector. There's a second green wire sitting up along the firewall. The wire that is hooked up has 12 volts with the ignition on. The wire that is not connected has no voltage at all.
What the heck is this for? And should I hook up the other wire? Thoughts? |

Re: Internet mechanics help
Someone's idea of a high idle.
The second green wire likely goes to a ground switch. Hook it to a ground and see what it does! |

Re: Internet mechanics help
the wire on the linkage side looks like it may be a aftermarket TH 400 trans kickdown switch , and could be the other wire is for a electric choke, the choke would be on the other side of the carb, maybe someone has either changed the carb over to manual choke or put a manual choke carb on

Re: Internet mechanics help
Is there a vacuum line going into that switch if so it wouldn't by chance be a shut off for something if you lose vacuum. Ie: lpg trucks had them to shut the fuel solinoide off when the truck wasn't running.

Re: Internet mechanics help
I don't think it has a vac line to it. I'd have to double check.
