Before selling it, see if you can find a local shop to look at it for you. It may be something that you just don't see. Set a dollar amount to diagnose. Maybe Someone here can help or help to recommend a shop near you. Throw out a Zip-code to narrow it down.

That has crossed my mind, my buddies and I always work on our own stuff and have never had the need for a shop. There's so many possibilities the shop hours would rack up fast. But if anyone knows of a reputable shop near 48185 I'm open minded at this point.

I pulled the carb spacer off, that must have sealed a minor vacuum leak. It idles much better and a little more responsive, baby steps. It's also nice having a taller garage and being able to walk under the hard top now.

Agree with a shop visit - sometimes the money spent is worth it to to have the problem diagnosed and then you can fix it.

Also - having the issue fixed would potentially net you more money in a sale.

So I was offered full asking price the other day and decided to keep it. I told the guy he'd get the first call if I changed my mind again. Anyway after solving the vacuum issue I played with the initial timing a bit last night. I found that 12* made a little more improvement. Better response, more power while cruising and the run on wasn't constant. I still need to set the total timing as soon as a get a good dial back timing light and a helping foot. After 2 harbor freight lights I guess I'll stop being cheap. I've never messed with curving a distributor, I'm sure it'll be a few long aggravating trial and error days. I'm really eager to get it looking right after making it act right.

It's hard to get rid of something you've worked so much on. With a clocked rv cam and high lift rockers mine likes to sit around 12-15 btdc as well to get full power. I don't use the timing tab anymore though. I timed mine with a vacuum guage and timed it for best overall vacuum at 3000 rpm. Made a world of difference in power.

I kind of suspected the tv setting for the Trans as a big portion of the problem, even though I set it as directed. I had a Trans shop reset it with the pressure gauge hooked up, they even had a hard time he said. It made a huge difference, firmer shifts, better response. It still falls off a bit after 3rd but no rediculous. Testing passing gear I found a new problem, I got in it in 3rd downshift was fine up shift seemed pretty hard then the truck started bouncing. It was like driving over a washboard at 40mph, almost like there were no shocks in the front. I'm really hoping it's not a torque converter issue, I'd think that would be more of a jitter. I stopped to inspect it and didn't see anything, it hasn't done it again but I haven't gotten into it either since.

How clean is that frame? I'm still thinking of building a rolling chassis while driving the truck. I just haven't found anything as clean as mine yet.

its a Michigan frame, would need to be blasted and evaluated. Here is an attached picture i have. Not the best but to give you an idea.
