Bucket seat covers
Sorry if I'm asking a question that has already been addressed but I have a set of 1970 bucket seats and I'm wondering if I can replace the covers with the 71-72 houndstooth style. I read where the seats are different from 69-70 and 71-72 but can't find how they are different. If any of you have made this swap chime in. Thanks.

Re: Bucket seat covers
The seat foam must match the year of the cover . so 71-72 seat covers (hounds tooth ) will not fit your 1970 seat foam correctly

Re: Bucket seat covers
Jrainman is correct - whenever the seat cover style changed, so did the foam. So, 69-70 had one type and then 71-72 had another. Just for clarity, houndstooth was never an option on factory buckets, they only came in vinyl, even on a Cheyenne Super. Houndstooth buckets available via aftermarket, but were not original GM cover styles.

Re: Bucket seat covers
a good upholstery shop will make anything you want with or without houndstooth many of them are very much cheaper than the ripoff guy's with factory correct crap

Re: Bucket seat covers
70cst, if you'd like a quality set of seat covers, houndstooth or vinyl, for your buckets, I highly recommend Tim (member: Truckseats). It's worth purchasing through a member with great service. He can get you exactly what you want and take care of it if it's not. I've not yet found an upholsterer that makes covers like these, and that look as factory as these, for less than what is available off the shelf. He's a good vendor and sells some off the shelf stuff but can also help coordinate specialty items. Houndstooth buckets, although not factory, are very popular - and they are available off the shelf via Tim.
