Gas Gauge and Boyd Fuel Tank

Anyone know how to make a 64 C10 gas gauge work with a new Boyds aluminum gas tank and Boyds fuel sender. Is it an ohms issue?

Re: Gas Gauge and Boyd Fuel Tank

Reading on other forum the solution is a 50 ohm resistor or an adjustable reostat. But I am going old tank to new gauge. I need to see if my float is still floating. Speedway Motors had a video on YouTube or Autometer.

Re: Gas Gauge and Boyd Fuel Tank

When you order the tank all you have to do is select the 0-30 ohm sender. Mine works fine in my 66. You will be good to go.

My 30 ohm sending unit works perfect from Boyd's? Works great with my stock gauge.

+3, specify the 0-30 ohm sender and you'll be good.

I did the same but it's tough to gauge how accurate it is when it's less that a quarter full. Anyone seen this?

Re: Gas Gauge and Boyd Fuel Tank

I've always had that problem even with the stock tank where accuracy rapidly falls off below 1/4 tank. I'd be curious to know if it has anything to do with the sensitivity of the narrower range (0-30 as opposed to 0-90 ohm).

You do have a 0-90 in your tank, and a 0-30 will get it all working right.
