Re: shift linkage for 4l60e

i used the stock rod down to the side of the frame and then from there i went to the salvage yard and grabbed a few bell cranks as fab stock to make what i want. Purchased from gm a new white plastic cup for the frame mount pocket and then worked with factory manual lever that attaches on the trans. I would tack weld up various layouts untill i had full travel into manual low and all detents work. Took some time but works nice.

A shift cable will probably be easier. If gm used it on a truck with a od trans i would try that. Good luck.

Ditto on Hart Rods recommendation (Lokar). Just make sure to be patient with the install. I jacked up my first install by cutting the rod to short-couldn't get the shifter to 1st gear. Measure 4 times cut once.

FYI, You can buy the rod by itself if you need a new one.
