Cab to frame measurements

Name: image.jpg
Views: 259
Size: 38.5 KBNeed your help, years back I grafted a late model camero clip to a 1957 stepside. I have been putting all the sheetmetal back on and trying to get the gaps presentable. Doors gaps around cab looks good, fender to door gaps are close but I'm convinced the cab needs to either raise on front mount or lower on rear mount. Has anyone transposed the measurements from the truck manual, the reason I ask it shows a instrument hole from inside of cab to the frame and that hole is not useable from the firewall side to be of any use.
Thanks JT from SC

You may need to fill in some blanks here as to what does that picture represent.

Re: Cab to frame measurements

First time I've heard of the instrument hole , Should be able to transpose the 40.300" measurement to the out side firewall.
There should be some small shims between the front mounts and cab I didn't measure mine but was about 3/32" to 1/8" per side, but I know it wasn't more than 1/8".

No shims from factory in between frame and back cab mounts.

Re: Cab to frame measurements

From the service manual: The clearance between the floor panel and side member should be 1 7/8ths. I'm not sure what they mean by "side member" and it doesn't elaborate on it.

View A is taken from inside of cab looking towards front of truck.
Instrument mounting hole is taken from upper left corner of drawing.
That hole is not assessable from the engine compartment fire wall to transpose.

Re: Cab to frame measurements

If someone has the factory assembly manual like the one they show in the main part of this page https://www.amazon.com/1955-1959-Che.../dp/B00435N3C0

It should have the drawings and measurements for front and rear cab to frame spacing.

Thank you 58 Warrior!!
The shim thickness is great info.
Truck manual shows part #'s for the shims only.
Got a new mounting kit on the way.
Thanks
