Can you I use a TBI air cleaner on a quadrajet?

Will one of the early single stud TBI air cleaner assemblies fit on top of a Quadrajet?

I know an early carb style base will work on a TBI set-up so I would bet it works the opposite way as well. The TBI set-ups did utilize a spacer so that might come into play.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Cool. From looking around the web it looks like they work. I want a nice sealed up air cleaner that draws air from outside the engine compartment. Anyone know where to buy the duct work from an 87 style air cleaner?

The top half of the single stud TBI air cleaner will probably fit the bottom half of your Quadrabogger air cleaner.

I would agree but that's based on my 1 TBI to 4bbl carb air cleaner comparison. But, the carb air cleaner assembly worked on my TBI set-up w/minor tweaks.

If you're not in a hurry, I'd get familiar with what it looks like and then watch craigslist. So many people swap these out for aftermarket open element units. I think your idea is cool tho.

Re: Can you I use a TBI air cleaner on a quadrajet?

the spacer used with the TBI is a ring which has a connection 2 the PCV breather tube - carburetor air cleaners had a similar system with a clip on breather filter (TBI air cleaner assembly will fit a carburetor if used with the spacer ring)
