Re: anybody cut a 69 grille and add a 71 insert?

I ask because I have a 69 grille and the center is bent way past straightening and I like the 71/72 grille just as much, maybe better. I figure if I cut the center out and buy the $80 insert. The original surround would shine up nice too.

I believe that works fine. I was going to say just buy the 71-72 because the earlier grill more valuable, but if it's already damaged, go for it.

Re: anybody cut a 69 grille and add a 71 insert?

One thing to think about....the 69-70 have the bowtie on the hood above the grill and the 71-72 have it on the grill. I have seen a few 69-70 trucks with the 71-72 grill sporting two emblems. One on the hood and right below it on the grill.....in my opinion they dont look good with both emblems. You may be able to get a 71-72 grill that doesn't have a spot for the bowtie or take the one off the hood and patch the holes?

You would need to swap the bumper too for the parking/turn lamps or find a way to mount them behind the 71 grille insert.

thanks guys! Didn't even think about the emblem issue or the parking light issue. Its all in pieces ...

might as well try it though as the grille is twisted and bend badly in the center

I have a nice '71-'72 emblem I would be willing to trade for a decent '69-'70 emblem...
