Wanting to purchase the whole setup with backing plates and all hardware, minus the drums. I'm sure there are some irreplaceable hard parts you can't get anymore so it'd be nice to get those all at once. I've researched and the period correct drum/shoe width is 2" so I'd like to stay with that if possible. Maybe from someone that has converted to disks?

Are you wanting the whole rear axle or just the brake parts? Seems like the backing plates are not removable without being cut.

All the hardware is available. Just need to do a little searching. Dorman makes the hardware kit and I think Ecklers has the rest of the Ebrake hardware. The backing plates will come off.

That is one year only. The '63 truck 12 bolt had the backing plates pressed onto the axle tubes. All truck 12 bolts from '64-'82 have bolted on backing plates.
