lifting 71 c10
i want to do a 4" susp lift, with 33 or 35 inch tire...any tips?
whats the best way, i was told for around 300$ i can have my front springs reacrched and add a leaf and get rear blocks and u bolts...but the fronts stand a chance of breaking because there so short. whats a good place to get a kit? is there anything else i should loook into getting to make it more driveable? thanks, zach |

For 260 you can get new front springs and rear blocks from JC whitney. The sell rough country. The you'd need to get shocks for about 120. for your brake lines you can use the drop down brackets or buy longer ones for about 120, then you need a steering arm for $60 from Summit, cheapest I've seen. Then your good to go. For about 560 give or take. I ordered the kit from JC Whitney this morning it's only $20 for shipping. I plan on getting the summit steering arm and longer brake lines.

Just buy a kit. It'll be cheaper in the long run. I got my 6" Skyjacker from 4Wheelparts. They were the cheapest. A raised steering arm is recommended but not required. Your drivelines should be okay on length

33s will fit w/ 2-2.5" lift. I ran 33s on an 85 K5 w/ a 2" block in the rear and an add-a-leaf in the front for maybe 2" of lift probably closer to 1.5".
Yes rear springs are the way to go, but not if you want lift and tires for under $1000. The rear springs usually add about $300 to the price of a lift. If you notice in the rear the shackle is under tension a flip puts the rear end of the rear spring under the frame and puts the shackle in compression. There are 2.5" and 4" flip kits. You could also add a block and an add-a-leaf in the rear to minimize block height.

I've got the part numbers for longer brake hoses if needed. Raybestos and much cheaper.
I'd definitely recommend the steering arm and the longer brake hoses. Figure on replacing some spring bolts if you live in the rust belt also. Replace the frame bushing in the back of the front spring mount also if you can. That doesn't come with the springs. I run 35" BFG with 4" Skyjacker Softride lift. It would rub in front if you did some serious offroading which I don't do. Here is a pic of one of mine. |

Great deal on 4" lift kit
I just purchased a 4" Superlift Lift Kit from someone on ebay. They work at Heckethorn, and all the lift kits are new in the box. He also had a Rough Country 4" Lift Kit for $340 that included new Front Leaf Springs, 4" Rear Blocks, 4 Heckethorn Shocks, Brake Line Relocation Brackets, Steering Arm, and all U-Bolts. I think this is all, but he always has them on ebay. He charges $65 for shipping via UPS ground, and has a very high rating on ebay. I looked pretty hard online before buying a lift kit, and these were the best deals I found anywhere.

Username is davy1445. Auction item number is 2463185729. Hope this helps. Like I said, he has very high ratings on ebay. I just ordered my kit the other day, and should have it late this week or first thing next week. Good luck!

Ebay Auction Item Number
Were you able to find the lift kit on ebay? I hope it helped, I'm eagerly anticipating two things this weekend. First, the arrival of my lift kit, and second, the removal of the 454 from the donor truck!

Hey 72bigblock4wd, I read your post, and I went right to eday. I have also been searching and researching kits and prices. I am so glad I read this post. I made use of two “buy it now” options, and from my estimations of the same kits, I saved almost $200.00. I talked to Davy today to confirm and pay for my order, he seems real nice. Should have my stuff around the end of next week.

Happy to help! I spent a couple weeks researching kits before I ordered mine, I couldn't find anyone with better prices anywhere.

Will do. I already have the shocks, steering arm, steering stabilizer. I'm now just waiting on the springs. I will let you know when I receive the rest of mine.
