I bought the Brothers truck power steering conversion kit for my 70 C10 the power steering pump pulley does not line up with the short water pump and crankshaft pulleys any suggestions?

Thanks for replying, yep have the 2 groove crank pulley and the 2 groove water pump pulley. I wanted to keep the alternator on the driver side of the engine so I wont have to modify the wiring harness. There is room above the power steering pump

Re: pwr steering pump conversion

Sorry cant get one tonight the truck is about 20 miles away at a friends garage, I will post one tomorrow if I can. I am going to call Brothers truck where I bought the kit Monday. The pulley sits 1/2 inch to far forward (away from the bock) for the back groove to line up. Its a small block 350.
Thanks !!

Maybe they sent you the wrong pulley with your kit? Or else you just need to buy a new pulley and you'll be good to go.

I did a power steering conversion on mine using salvage parts from C10's and I had to just buy a new pulley to line up with my Gilmer pulley setup on the crank.

I understand that Brothers is a good parts source, so perhaps the problem is that over the 46 years, some parts on your truck have been changed, giving rise to the problem. Does not sound serious, though. This kind of situation is the reason that I think that getting all the parts you need at a junkyard sometimes makes the best sense, even if you have to have the pump rebuilt later.
