torsion bar swap out??
Hi new to the forum, so please bear with me, also my 1st c10
just bought a 62 burb w/ the torsion bar front end and a straight 6. wanted to do a v8 or ls swap and I am reading every where people are doing a later model coil front end swap. what is the advantage? or the disadvantage to the torsion bar? do they stink? break? if I stay with the torsion bar do I have to upgrade the bars for the v8 weight? is there a rear end from a later model I can use with out to much fab? |

Re: torsion bar swap out??
it does give you the advantage of disc brakes and newer and more available suspension parts. guy wants more go with an LS engine he should want better braking to. nothing wrong with the t/bar setup as long as it is not frozen up. you can get I think disc brake setups for that front end. the later front ends are usually the more economical way to go. rear end installation is a matter of moving axle suspension perches and rewelding. you may want to familiarize yourself on the forum with Captain Fab as he makes it easier for you to install all this stuff; azle brkts, p/s and brake booster adaptors
