brake pedal linkage

How in the world do you remove the old rod from the linkage when the threads are a bit frozen? Vice grips just do not hold the rod.

Yes, it's the rod that went into the m/c, but I'm converting to power discs, and with the new booster there's a rod that replaces the old one, but is supposed to screw into the original linkage. I have the linkage unbolted from the pedal, but I can't get the old rod out of the linkage.

It's a catastrophic success.

Does it have a nut up against the clevis? If so its a lock, loosen it first, if not put a little heat on it and expand the threads.
