1967 c10 brakes
My 1967 c10 has already been swapped over to disc brakes on the front, my question is how do you order new pads and rotors for it, it is stock height with 6 bolt wheels on it and everywhere I look on the internet it only shows swap kits there are no listings for replacement parts are there other years that used 6 bolt rotors that you can order or is it a buy another swap kit to get the pieces i need?

Re: 1967 c10 brakes
Can't you find out what the original application for the parts in the swap kit was? Then a parts guy could sell you pads and rotors.
If that's not possible, I'd take the rotors and pads with me to a brake shop, and let them compare with parts they have to find what you need. Not a place like O'Reillys, but a real brake shop.

Re: 1967 c10 brakes
You need to determine how it was converted to discs. The most popular way is by using 73-87 spindles and calipers with aftermarket 6 lug rotors. Replacement rotors are available. There are no stock 6 lug rotors that fit 73-87 spindles.
Pic of aftermarket rotor: http://www.earlyclassic.com/fullImag...ion=03-6370-6L The other way is by using bolt-on caliper brackets and bearing spacers to get stock 88-98 light duty 3/4 ton rotors and calipers onto the original drum spindles. Can you post a pic of your setup? |

Re: 1967 c10 brakes
The pads should be easy enough just take one side used pads to a parts house and have them go find the GM pads that look just like the old ones.
You could get lucky and find some sort of casting or part number on one of the rotors too I suppose. The same method could be used, but I suspect with less chance of positive result. If you know where this "kit" came from try to go that route first. I installed a Baer big brake kit once on an F-body. Years later, when I needed pads/rotors, a little research showed that the Baer kit was simply GM's C5 corvette rotors/calipers/pads. Cheap rotors and pads for replacement, but BAER wanted 3 times the price!! -klb

Re: 1967 c10 brakes
6 lug rotors are aftermarket only. I believe ECE and CPP sell replacement rotors for the 6 lug disk conversion. Brake pads and everything else should be available at any auto parts store. They use 1971-198x depending on kit and rotor thickness.

Re: 1967 c10 brakes
Just call Summit and order replacement parts from them. There is no shopping for cheap price when you use aftermarket parts/kits. Just pay whatever it costs and move on down the road.
My dad bought the Jimmy in '77 and I got it from him in '87 and replaced the rotors around '98. Based on my experience it's nearly a lifetime product since I have over 350k miles on the truck now and just two sets. No way I could wear them out again!

Re: 1967 c10 brakes
for rotors summit sells cpp 6 lugs https://www.summitracing.com/parts/clp-cp4r-6/overview/ I run them on my truck and this is the best price I've seen on them and free shipping. the pads will be the same from 71-mid 80's so just pick any year between them and you'll be good. hoses are probably el camino hoses
