Factory wire splices. Does this look right?
Hey all, cleaning and repairing my wiring harnesses on the 84. Currently on the side marker, horn, etc harness. The factory wiring diagram says the splices pictured below are supposed to be there (there are more splices, these are examples). But do these splices look factory? First time wiring, just seems weird GM would splice with just tape.

Re: Factory wire splices. Does this look right?
Yep-that's factory stuff. In some areas I use the same thermal tape also-mainly for external harness retention spots. I use a dual wall polyolephin heat shrink on actual common splices. For millions of production harnesses using tape as GM did was a more economical way to go. Keep in mind tho it's not simple electrical tape-it's a hi temp thermal tape which also acts as a moisture barrier too.
