4x4 front differential seal

Front seal is leaking . somewhat mechanically inclined and think I can fix it on the ground but have a couple concerns . If I can break the nut loose with a breaker bar and get the seal replaced do I just torque back to spec and if so what is that ? do I have to be concerned with too much or too little crush like on a 9" ford pinion nut ?

thank you

yes you will have to be careful about the crush sleeve. I have changed many out and its not really a big problem. Ideally you should replace the crush sleeve each time you take the torque off of the yoke, but I don't think you will have any problems just swapping the seal and putting the yoke back on.

Take a chisel and make a mark on the pinion and the nut before you loosen it. When you put it back, align the marks.
