70 c10 with a Borg Warner
Hey there, I am fairly new to tranny and motor swapping.
I currently have a 93 454 Chev 4 bolt main in my 70 c10. It has a th350 behind it, and I can tell already it can't handle the torque (after 1000km). I bought a borg warner super t10, tail casting # 1304066903. From what I have found, this from 1977. I was told it came from a 455 trans am. It came with a hurst competition shifter, and a bell housing. How will I know if the bell housing will fit? Any other parts I will need to bolt up? Thanks for your help! |

Small block and big block use the same bellhousing. A 621 bellhousing will work, it might be fun to find a used one however...

If it is a BOP bell housing, it won't bolt up to your 454. Chevy has a different bolt pattern on the block.
But, you should be able to sell the BOP pattern bell for the same or more than what a used Chevy bell will run. BOP = Buick Olds Pontiac (and Cadillac)

So, I'd check what bellhousing you have and not ASSUME what you where told it came from is correct.. It still might have the B.P.O. bolt pattern, if it was from a 77 t/a as they came with 400's and a stick.. but I'd check what you got.. |

Here's a link on the way to tell what bell you have.

Okay, so it is a BOP bellhousing. I could either sell it and look for another chevy one, or use an adapter?
Any downside to the adapter? Will the bellhousing from a th350 work with the trans? I currently have a th350 in the truck. |

The th350 bellhousing is not removable - cast as part of the transmission case. |
