Bending new radiator support?

Got a new radiator support from LMC for my 70 and it seems to fit nicely except for where the fender mounts, it seems I need to bend that triangular tab down some to make the fender bracket fit. Has anyone encountered this with their replacement panels?

Re: Bending new radiator support?

On mine the bottom corner was bent. Shipping damage. Have not installed mine yet. All I have done so far is paint it. And my corners look the same way. Probably have to tweak it. Good luck.

Re: Bending new radiator support?

I've got one recently and I had to do some welding along the bottom where the spot welds weren't done properly. I also spent some time deburring all of the other spot welds that had rough spots on them. I did notice right out of the box those corners looked out of place I took some Vice Grips with the wide metal jaws for clamping sheet metal together, and brought those edges down to a position that is more to my liking. Yes the spot welds were the same way on mine. Had to deburr before paint. And the bottom lip was bent pretty good.

Re: Bending new radiator support?

You should expect some form of fab work or modification to make any aftermarket panels work. Beat it into submission and make it fit. Wait till you weld in aftermarket patch panels...

X2. On the patch panels. Tried to do the lower inner and outer door skins. What a mess I made out of that. Needless to say. I ordered another set. If it don't go well this time. I'll be buying doors. LOL.
