1970 Chevy C 20

I just recently purchased this truck. Seems to be the new love of my life. I was wondering how good it would handle if it had posi rear end?

Re: 1970 Chevy C 20

It won't "handle" any better with posi - in fact, it can make it worse in slick conditions. Posi is great if you use it judiciously.

For example, in my Z28 I can easily break both tires loose on dry pavement. On the snow I have to be extremely careful with the accelerator or I'm facing the wrong way in traffic.

Off-road the posi helps to keep the truck moving in loose conditions.

I can say that I have wished many times that I had the added traction of both rear wheels spinning- had my truck stuck several times in wet grass, snowy driveways, etc. Thinking about a Spartan locker eventually but as trickster said, I don't like the idea of making it any more squirrely on slick roads.

Truckster is right on. My 98 with the so called "Gov Loc" posi unit easily spins both rear wheels, and if the surface is slippery, the truck will go sideways just as easily as it will go straight ahead. Posi is good, but use with care.
