What Dizzy for L31

I have an stock HEI distributor,
and a 97 SBC distributor w/out vac advance.

If I run the stock HEI, Ill have to get a melonized gear for it and the 97 model has no provisions for vac advance so I thinking of just purchasing a new dizzy already set up for roller cam.
Can anyone recommend one?
Thanks in advance for any help

I'm considering a Skip White distibutor for mine. I checked with their tech support and they confirmed it has a mellonized gear.

The '97 distributor isn't a normal distributor anyway. All it really has inside is a cam position sensor. If the gear on it is in good condition, just remove it and put it on your old style HEI.

Does that distributor have a melonized gear? I don't see anything about it in the description. I don't know anything about Proform other than all their products are made in China.

Not to hijack but I just purchased a L31 R and was unsure of what A/C delco distributor to run. Going in my 87, but will be doing away with the computer. Not really wanting to go with vac advance, just a good HEI, will that be possible ?

Re: What Dizzy for L31

Why do you not want a vacuum advance? A vacuum advance is most needed on a street driven engine for best driveability. Unfortunately all of the cheap HEI's found on the internet and on various parts sellers websites are made in China. Even the MSD Streetfire HEI is made in China. With that said, many people buy them and seem to have decent luck with them. To get a good quality HEI distributor you are going to have to spend in the neighborhood of $200. Those are going to be the MSD Pro Billet HEI and Davis Unified Distributors HEI just to name a couple. The Summit and Jegs house brands are a little less $$ but I do not know about their quality. With most HEI distributors, the gear will need to be changed to a melonized gear.
