help with brakes upgrade

HI all
I have a 1968 c10 stepside . I would like to use disc brakes in the front but I have a 6 lug drum so I would like to use a 6 lug rotor . I will be using a 70's drop spindle unless that spindal is wrong anyone has an idea of what year rotor I can use? Any info will be appreciated

I am planning the same swap from everything I am reading the 5 lug was standard after 70 if you want to keep the 6 you have to use conversion rotors for the year of your spindle

Thanks for the link but that only seems to be for the 5 lug. I want to able to buy a six lug rotor of the shelf from another year vehicle or it isn't possible so I have to buy a aftermarket 6 lug rotor?

You can get 6 lug rotors at The Truck Shop in Orange, CA. Someone in your area has to sell 6 lug rotors.

from everything I have read most spindles are set up for either 71-72 or 73-87 and stock they were all 5 lug so your kind of stuck . I think that's why all the kits charge a bit more for the 6 lug

Make your life EASY:
BUY,....
1) 63-70 Conversion spindles.
2) aftermarket 6-lug rotors (there is no bolt on oem rotor)
3) 71-87 HD calipers and bearings
4) 71-72 M/C
5) 71-87 proportioning valve or aftermarket

Seems like the Disc Brake thread I wrote confuses everyone.
BUT there is absolutely no need to use 71-72 or 73-87 spindles anymore.
That only makes you purchase more parts.
Donor front ends are wore out and need to be rebuilt.

You are basically converting to 5-lug EXCEPT you are using 6-lug aftermarket rotors.
(These are 5-lug blank rotors that have been drilled to 6-lug)

Long term you will not regret the 5 lug conversion. Kit is cheaper now, almost pays for half the cost of axles at least from ECE which I recommend.

I did the ECE conversion on my 69 that uses the drum brake tie rods and balljoints so in the future you just buy those parts for your car. It also uses cheaper easier sourced 5 lug rotors. And your wheel choices go up exponentially both in size and style.

But like everything else, YMMV.
