'61 Neighborhood find
I normally post in the '73 -'87 forum but thought I'd share some pics of a neighborhood '61 Chevy truck. The owner recently passed away and family members had no interest so it went to another neighbor's nephew, a mechanic in Indiana.
My neighbor had originally purchased this truck used here in Arizona in the mid-sixties, drove it for a few years then parked it under a shelter. Imagine my surprised to find it was an original factory 4WD with factory dual shocks. Quite an unusual find and in remarkable shape with the original 283 . Thought this would make an interesting post. Some pics: |

Re: '61 Neighborhood find
Yeah I drooled over it but I can't keep up with everything that needs maintenance as it is. The tires had tubes and they held air well enough to get it loaded on the transport.

Re: '61 Neighborhood find
Pretty cool with the aftermarket knee freezer (pun intended). I like the camper shell / topper. It looks period correct. Wonder what kind it was as they're getting real hard to find especially for a long stepper.
The Dymo Label maintenance records on the dash are a classic touch too! Most people don't even know what a Dymo is anymore.

Re: '61 Neighborhood find
Those maintenance records on the door sure are cool, must've been one caring owner to document everything like that

Re: '61 Neighborhood find
doesnt hurt anything. Vins are not secret. You can get the vin off any car you want simply by looking. Same thing on license plates. I aways laugh when people take a pic of the car/truck and put something over the plate. They are in plain view anytime it is outside. Its not a secret in any way and no one can do anything with the info even if they have it.
